What fields and topics do you consult on?
African history (pre-colonial through modern), the transatlantic slave trade, Akan and Gold Coast history from the 15th to 20th centuries, diaspora studies across the Americas and Caribbean, African healing traditions, indigenous knowledge systems, and African publishing and media.
Can you review a documentary script or film treatment?
Yes — this falls under Manuscript Review. The deliverable is a written report with line-level historical notes, factual corrections, source suggestions, and a brief contextual overview. Turnaround is typically 2–3 weeks depending on length.
How far in advance should I book a speaking engagement?
For conferences and keynotes, 3–6 months ahead is ideal. For university guest lectures and virtual talks, 4–6 weeks is usually sufficient. Reach out as early as possible and a provisional date can be held while logistics are confirmed.
Do you offer discounts for community organizations or nonprofits?
Yes, on a case-by-case basis for organizations working directly with African and diaspora communities. Please describe your organization's mission and project in your inquiry and a bespoke rate can be discussed.
Is a deposit required for larger projects?
For manuscript review and curriculum development, a 50% deposit is required to begin work. The balance is invoiced on delivery. Research consultation sessions are paid in full at booking. Speaking engagements are typically structured as 50% on contract, 50% on the day.
What payment methods do you accept?
All major credit and debit cards via Stripe, plus PayPal. For research consultation bookings made through Acuity, payment is collected at the time of booking. For invoiced projects, payment is due within 14 days of the invoice date.
